Contrary
to media reports that the Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode ordered the
sack of Rev Femi Taiwo, Chaplain of Christ The Light Church, his
official worship centre at the Alausa seat of power for disrespecting his
wife, The Rhema News has reliably gathered that the Chaplain was moved from the
worship centre over what the Lagos State government described as
the "culmination of various indiscretions ".
Accusing
the former Chaplain of blackmail, Mr Steve Ayorinde, the State's Commissioner
For Information and Strategy said Femi Taiwo had been queried a number of
times in the past for conducts unbecoming of his office.
Ayorinde
said “the culmination of various indiscretions" led to the governing
council of the church issuing yet another query that led to the Cleric being
relieved of his post.
He
said the development has got nothing to do with the first lady as being
reported.
“This
has got nothing to do with the first lady. The chaplain is looking for an
excuse to cover his insouciance. It’s nothing but cheap blackmail.” Ayorinde
said, even as it was also hinted within government circle that the sacked
Chaplain was agitating to be the personal spiritual leader of the first family.
A
national newspaper, The Punch, had reported that the chaplain was sacked on the
order of the governor’s wife over an alleged insubordination.
The
chaplain who was a former staff of The Punch newspaper was also quoted in the
paper not to be drawn into the allegations flying around his sack.
