Kingdom Men Laments Christians Role In Agitation For Nigeria Break-up, Drags Prof Anya To Roundtable Talk

A  Christian group, under the  umbrella body of  The Kingdom Men, has  lamented  the role of Christians and their active participation in what it called the increasing rise in the call  for the separation of the country Nigeria as a nation.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday, group  said it is  particularly concerned that Christian men are actively joining in the ethnic card playing role; becoming ethnic champions on social and traditional media and even in private discussions.

Submitting that its concern stem from its status as  God’s accountability officers, the group which has Ambsaasdor Chrsitopher Kolade as its Patron among other men said "even if it could be argued that armies are dominated by men, we forget that women and children are normally the majority of victims and casualties of wars that we cause! And we forget that it is our responsibility as family heads and leaders to protect them."

In the statement signed by Rev Remi Akanno, the Kingdom Men  lamented that  "Our nation, Nigeria’s continued existence as one indivisible entity is being threatened. Separatist agitations are on the rise.

" Past wrongs are being unearthed and current injustices being magnified across the geo-political zones. “I am absolutely right and you are incurably wrong” and “my way or the highway” are becoming the order of the day. Positions are hardening. In one word we are on the brink again.

"We at Kingdom Men Global Network are alarmed at the role we Christians are playing in the whole confusion. We are particularly concerned that Christian men are actively joining in the ethnic card playing role; becoming ethnic champions on social and traditional media and even in private discussions. We do this absolutely unmindful of the fact that we are God’s accountability officers.

"For instance, even if it could be argued that armies are dominated by men, we forget that women and children are normally the majority of victims and casualties of wars that we cause! And we forget that it is our responsibility as family heads and leaders to protect them."

As its own way of nipping the ugly trend in the bud, the group said it has cocluded plan to host  a roundtable  breakfast meeting with men to discuss the project called Nigeria.

"That is why the next edition of our regular gathering, MEN’S BREAKFAST ROUNDTABLE is themed, ‘THE MEN NIGERIA NEEDS NOW’" the statement said.

Explaining further, the  group said " NOW, here refers to these testy times; these times of mindless hate speeches and declarations"

Mentioning that the meeting  holds by 8.00am on Saturday, July 8 at 8:30am   at  Bluenest Hotels, 9, Osolo Way, Ajao Estate, Off Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road, Oshodi-Isolo, the Christian body named  The Lead Speaker at the event as Professor Anya O. Anya.

"Professor Anya  has a  revelation; he has a word from God that we believe every man should hear. He is not just a globally recognised academic, pioneer Executive Director of Nigeria Economic Support Group and later Chairman of its Board; he is an elder statesman and servant of God who listens for and receives the word of God. An Elder of the Presbyterian Church, we believe every man should hear what God said to him concerning Nigeria." the statement also read in part.
